I remember the day my sister-in-law called me with the news that she had met someone and we needed to catch up over lunch. I listened eagerly as she talked about the guy with all the excitement and hope a new relationship can bring. Soon after I met Chris I realized he and Erica fit together perfectly. Like peanut butter and jelly, Chris and Erica complement and improve each other. Chris fit into our family seamlessly and we knew it to be only a matter of time before he and Erica would exchange their vows.

 I arrived in Indianapolis on Thursday as one big ball of emotions. This was it. Wedding weekend! My gorgeous sister-in-law found the man who couldn’t wait to promise, in front of all their friends and family, to love and care for her the rest of their lives. The gravity of this threatened to bring me to tears all day long. I tried hard not to let it sink in because, let’s be honest, no one wants to be the girl who keeps crying at the drop of a hat. Even if they are happy tears.

The wedding day was flawless. Not because there weren’t the usual little things that didn’t quite go as planned, but because Chris & Erica made a sacred commitment to one another and we had a wonderful, joyful time celebrating the two of them. I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: my favorite thing about weddings is how they bring people together. For Chris and Erica this is probably one of the only times all of their closest friends and family (on both sides) will be in the same place. For the believer in Jesus, this is a beautiful glimpse of what heaven will be like. And for these reasons it was absolutely perfect.
