New Year’s Announcement!

I have never been afraid to chase my dreams. Of course, there are moments of self doubt when I wonder “What if I fail?”, but mostly I find the adventure exhilarating. I am an advocate of action. Action that steps, even if imperceptibly, in the direction of your dreams. Action towards designing a life you love.

Yet action without God is completely futile. When God says, “Delight in me and I will give you the desires of your heart,” I have always believed Him. I have been taught that this doesn’t mean God gives us every fleeting want. Rather, He changes our desires to match His perfect will. This can only come from surrendering our dreams and allowing God to give us His. A great truth, but one, I must admit, I struggle to live by. I have become good at surrendering 50% to God and keeping a nice 50% for my own will. But that isn’t how it works, is it?

When I followed my plan for myself, I had an illusion of control over my life that made me fearless. But when I surrender my plans and desires to God and ask for His instead, I am terrified. Terrified in the scared-to-death sense of the word, but also in an awe-inspiring way.

Over a year ago, the Lord placed it on my heart to pray for a change ahead, and he continued to prompt me to do so every day of 2015. Waiting is always hard, but last October I finally received the direction I had been praying for and caught a beautiful glimpse of God’s plan for me. It was certainly worth the wait.

I am extremely excited to announce that I will be focusing solely on anniversary sessions, vow renewals and elopements this year. I stopped accepting weddings for 2016 last October and, although I have sincerely loved every wedding I have photographed over the last 5 years, I am eager to pursue a new and challenging direction for my business.

Thank you for following my photography journey as it has evolved! I not only feel all of the love and support, but I am fueled by it. I am sure you know Ephesians 3:20-21 well; it says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” God has done “exceedingly abundantly above” for me through you: my family, friends, and clients. Although my words fall short, I would like to say a simple, “Thank you!” I pray you hear it from the deepest part of my heart.

Happy New Year!
